Excavating Your Bliss

on Thursday, May 6, 2010

It is all too common that sometime in a person's forties they undergo what is popularly termed a “mid-life” crisis. Either this is because they suddenly realise life is passing them by and they have not met the goals they aspired to in their twenties, or alternatively the person may have been “successful” in obtaining their goals, yet somehow their life is still devoid of meaning and they have a gnawing emptiness inside. Why? Because they have not been listening to their soul’s needs, probably not since childhood.

This exercise is designed to stimulate you to listen to the inner voice of your soul and to start taking heed of its messages. It is never too late to adjust your life, either marginally or radically, to be in alignment with the needs of your soul as expressed through your heart. Notice the “ah ha!” light bulbs going on inside your head as you do this exercise and feel your heart expanding into joy as you awaken to the true essential you and your life’s purpose. -- Excavating Your Bliss

Self-Love and Self-Nurturing

Before we can truly love others we first need to learn to love ourselves unconditionally, which for many people can be the most challenging part of their spiritual growth. We can be so busy "loving" others and "doing" for others that we neglect ourselves. How can we truly allow ourselves to be loved by another if we don’t even know how to love ourselves first?

If we don't factor in time in our lives on a daily basis for self-love and self-nurturing we are being hypocritical and not in our integrity. Any "love" we are giving out to others is likely to be tainted with resentment about meeting their needs and not ours or be conditional upon getting something back from that person. Beginning to sound familiar? Probably the vast majority of us can relate to the above. No wonder our hearts have been closing down vibrationally. Unconditional love requires nothing in return - it just is.

Unconditional love is what your dog gives you. Owning a pet gives people an opportunity to just naturally open their heart up to unconditional love as they feel the purity of their animal’s love and know it is not manipulative or calculating nor does it have a hidden agenda. An animal does not care how you look, what job you have, how much money you make, what car you drive or the house you live in. I feel animals are far closer spiritually to God than we are.

In our materialistic society the majority of people confuse self-love and self-nurturing with amassing physical possessions, such as fancy cars, big houses, lots of clothes, etc. How many people do we know who seem to have all the material things yet are depressed and empty inside. Hollywood is full of them. So-called self-nurturing may also be excessive consumption of alcohol, over-eating junk food, being a couch potato in front of the television, all of which are injurious to our health and do nothing to nourish us at a soul-level, where the real need for nurturing lies.

Let’s look at some positive soul-healing ways to nurture and love yourself:
*. Laugh a lot - 10 minutes of laughter in the morning boosts your immune system, increases productivity and gives you a good attitude. Try it in the shower, while exercising or just about any time. Laughter uses every muscle in the body and releases endorphins, the happy hormones.
* Enjoy guilt-free downtime - Be sure to build in regular reward breaks of 10-15 minutes after completing a task. That way you don’t need to feel guilty about stopping for a break. Walk outside, put your feet up, read, phone a friend or just do nothing.
* Have a warm aromatherapy bath with candles - Add beautiful music, take a good book to read, turn the answering machine on, meditate or whatever you are guided to. Enjoy!
*Take yourself to a beautiful place in nature - Walk, sit or just contemplate.
*Enjoy good conversations with friends
*Hug your pet or your child

Now over to YOU.

Vibrational Healing and Tips to Raise Your Vibration

What is Vibrational Healing?

Every one of us has our own unique vibration or frequency, our "energy signature" if you like, which is made up from the combination of the vibrations from our physical body and the subtle energetic bodies in the surrounding electromagnetic auric field. Through many years experience working as a vibrational healer since 1995 I have observed that for most people their natural vibration will be roughly commensurate with their body size and build. For instance a tall, muscle-bound man will naturally have a much heavier vibration than a petite female. People with natural healing gifts tend to have much finer vibrations than their body type would suggest. This is probably why women with their generally lighter body frames have a head start vibrationally and seem to outnumber men 4:1 in the healing arts as their vibrations are naturally higher and finer. In an ideal state, energy flows freely throughout our physical body as well as through our etheric, emotional, mental and spiritual subtle bodies. In reality, most of us contain areas of blocked, trapped or stagnant energy from an accumulation of unresolved traumas and faulty subconscious beliefs. When energy can no longer flow freely, significant emotional, mental and spiritual hindrances to being happy in life can occur as well as physical discomfort and disease.
Vibrational healing works to clear through energetic blockages at all levels - physical, mental, emotional and spiritual - to rebalance a person energetically at all levels.

There are many, many forms of vibrational healing, such as:
- Hands-on healing modalities like Reiki, Seichim and Sekhem.
- Flower and Vibrational Essences
- Acupuncture and Acupressure
- Reflexology
- Shiatsu
- Sound Healing
- Colour Therapy
- Crystal Healing
- Emotional Free Technique (EFT)
- Aromatherapy

Although we each have our own general vibrational level, we can raise this to a higher level by doing personal development work, meditation and nurturing our body, mind and soul, to name a few.

Here are some of the most powerful, and fun, ones I incorporate into my daily personal practice:

WHAT RAISES YOUR VIBRATION / OPENS YOUR HEART?
- Feeling connected to all that is
- Spending time in nature
- Playing with animals and children
- Letting go of emotional baggage
- Surrendering your problems to higher forces
- Reclaiming your power
- Forgiving yourself and/or others
- Honouring and nurturing yourself
- Making playtime a regular part of your life
- Laughing out loud
- Beautiful music
- Prosperity consciousness
- Lifestyle changes to address stresses and frustrations
- Being content with what you already have materially
- High self-esteem
- Accepting responsibility for your actions
- Working in whatever nourishes you at a soul level

Of course we can easily lower our natural vibration if we allow ourselves to get caught up in the following:

WHAT LOWERS YOUR VIBRATION / CLOSES YOUR HEART?
- Holding onto old emotional hurts, such as resentment, bitterness, grief and sadness
- Not forgiving yourself and/or others
- Putting yourself down your list of priorities
- Holding back from speaking your truth
- Poverty mentality, fear of lack
- Not addressing stresses and frustrations
- Fear of failure
- Perfectionism
- Focus on accumulating material "trappings", such as cars, houses, etc
- Self-criticism - Why do we accept self-criticism unquestioningly when we respond angrily to others' judgments?
- Being judgmental towards others
- Low self-worth
- Victim mentality "poor me", "woe is me"
- Being too "busy" to nurture yourself
- Not being in alignment with your soul purpose
